PostSubject: Doopydoos DLT19 (yes or no?)   Sun May 15, 2011 8:19 pm

Hi been thinking on this...
I hate my Hasbro convert & wanted to switch to something BIGGER/more accurate looking. So i thought of the DLT.
My only option seems to be the Doopy-doos, fully assembled, version.
So before i commit to buying one, thought best to run by you guys.

P.S.(I dont really have the time/tools/skills/patience to do a scratch build)

Speaking of which, I might be getting myself one of these very soon. And the pics I've seen recently of DDs DLT-19 are much better looking than the pics on their website. So either the pics on the website are old, or the new pics are not of a DD DLT-19.

Anyone got some good pics of a fairly recent DLT-19? (less than 2 years old?) Here's some pics, which I like, and if they hold true, should make it an awesome blaster.

Mines from 2008 and is the updated version - I don't have any pics as yet but should get some taken.

I say yes to the DoopyDoos DLT19.
With some modding, it can be made very accurate.

Here's pics of my modded and repainted DD BFG:

That's a nice looking DLT-19! Smile

What do you think of that polyurethane material it's made of, is it fragile? What I've been able to read on wikipedia on the material is that it's some sort of plastic rubber, but can be both hard and fragile, and "soft" and flexible.

It looks very nice!

But if its made out of 100% full resin, i guess it must be a bit heavy.
Plus can be smashed to pieces, very easy it gets dropped etc.
The pipe must be very easy to brake/frail, as its drill out etc.

But i like the drill out look for sure, a bit sad theres no pipe in the barrel.
But i guess it could be add fan made.

Looks a bit off, whit the big screws under the legs.

Cheers

Well, they say it's made of polyurethane which can be both soft and hard depending on application. So that's why I'm asking for first hand experience. There are many kinds of resin I've come to understand, with different properties.

I'd be afraid to drop that baby, that much is sure. I just don't, that does the trick. I had minor breakage after a kid ran it over, but nothing that isn't fixable.

It is not that brittle that it doesn't survive some serious trooping. But yeah, it's no Hyperfirm either. But has better details overall.

I have the second on ever made by DDs .he was thinking of making one for himself then i came knocking on hes door and put him right. They are made of firbre glass ,three layers of gel coat then firbre glassed.I dont know the full process but they are very sharp.Mine has all the original makers marks and the eagles all over it.

Rolf I thought that about the weight, but when I tried it up against an Hyper Firm there wasn't a lot in it.

These are, in my opinion, one of the best DLT-19 available right now. The detail is fantastic and they're great value for money.
Sure there are bits off here and there, but not that many and you can always play around with it to get those minor bits right.
Its not as durable as a HF by a long shot but its a GA-ZILLLEEEEON times better then a fan built

Are there two models from DD.
Obihahn looks better/more accurate, then the one Pete has.
1. In the end of the gun grip.
2. The barrel drill out holes.
I have never seen a DD DLT-19 in real life, so i´m not sure if there have been two different runs of it.
Or if it just Dennis/Obihahn there has modify he´s more right.
I still think the screws under the bipod looks a bit off, plus left right of the top section of the legs.

Heres my sci-fire DLT-19.
If something better comes out, i will sell it...
but for now, i guess it might be the best one out there.
I guess only a real one, or air soft are better, but the price, and weight are not.

There is a Mk1 and a Mk2 of the DD, I'm guessing Pete's is Mk1 ?

Yeah, there are at least two versions of the DD gun. Also, mine is quite heavily modded in some smaller detail areas.

The screws holding the bipod really are the only visual sores the DD gun has. That and the wrong location of the cocking handle. I repositioned that on mine.

I was thinking there was two versions, too cool.
I have not check the prices, are the one MK2 more pricy then MK1.

A few questions:
1. Are both versions to take apart in two pieces etc.
2. Comes the MK2 whit the drill out barrel etc.
3. What about the items there makes it a DLT-19, and no longer a MG-34.
The feeder box, gun grip disc, t-tracks, are they loose to be add on, or not to move and a part of the gun.
4. Dos both versions MK1 and 2 come in black resin, or only in the yellow a like resin.
5. Sounds like its not 100% only resin, but have a fiber glass layer over it.
I don´t much about that, but why, dos it make it sharper/stronger for not braking etc.

Cheers scratch study

Mine is a pre MK1 and MK2 it is the second of a run of three, before DD modded it for general release and then with more feedback came the MK2. I am sure he would be up for a MK3.

A few answers: Wink

Rolf wrote:

1. Are both versions to take apart in two pieces etc.
-> Yeah, they all are. The cocking handle is removable as well, as is the bipod.

2. Comes the MK2 whit the drill out barrel etc.
-> Both versions I know have the hollow barrel with all holes drilled out. There seems to have been a version before those 2 with a solid barrel or at least no pre-drilled holes.

3. What about the items there makes it a DLT-19, and no longer a MG-34.
The feeder box, gun grip disc, t-tracks, are they loose to be add on, or not to move and a part of the gun.

-> It comes with t-tracks and grip disc, but does not have the feeder box. In fact, there are no details on both sides of the receiver (that is something I added on mine).
A couple things are missing entirely, which bugs me the most. But I added all these on my gun as well.

4. Dos both versions MK1 and 2 come in black resin, or only in the yellow a like resin.
-> DoopyDoos sells them all painted in plain black. In a matte finish.

5. Sounds like its not 100% only resin, but have a fiber glass layer over it.
I don´t much about that, but why, dos it make it sharper/stronger for not braking etc.

-> The outer layer is definitely yellowish resin on the DD guns I handled (3 of 'em so far). I'm not sure what's under that.

Thanks for the detail answer bro.
I will have my eyes on the DD, maybe get one soon, or wait for a upgrade MK3 (if they make a third version some day.

Hi Dennis.

Your DLT-19 looks super cool, if you have more detail pics i would like to see them.
As i´m thinking of getting one my self.

Do you know if theres a MK3 on there way, so i should wait.
Or no future plans, so the MK2 is the one to get.

Its strange they only post there first version under MK2, whit the not drill out barrel on there site.
When they have made the better MK2...
http://www.doopydoos.co.uk/

One last question, as it sounds like you know about the DD.
I´m thinking of getting a new E-11, and go for the full kit to 39,99 uk pounds.
Its the a good choice, i think i can make it look pretty good.
Looks like only the scope metal holder are not in the kit.

Cheers
